About BMD

BMD is Australia's leading integrated engineering, construction and urban development business. As the largest privately owned civil contractor in Australia, BMD is at the forefront of excellence.

Over a 45-year history, BMD has grown to become a $2 billion operation, now sharing our expertise internationally in the Philippines and the UK.

About the Project
The Tram to Springvale Alliance (TSA), made up of BMD Constructions, CPB Contractors and Arup, is delivering the Eastern Freeway Upgrades between Tram and Springvale roads. The works include new express lanes, upgraded noise walls, and revitalised areas of the Koonung Creek Linear Park.

The project is being delivered under an Alliance Contract with Victorian Infrastructure Delivery Authority (VIDA), forming a single, collaborative team.  As part of the North East Link Program (NELP), the upgrade will improve safety and efficiency for over 135,000 daily vehicles, remove 15,000 trucks from local roads, and reduce traffic across the Yarra River by 50,000 vehicles per day.

We’re completing the link together and bringing it home for our community.

The Role

We’re looking for an experienced Senior Quality Engineer to lead and support the assessment, assurance and continuous improvement of quality outcomes across multiple project areas, ensuring works are delivered in accordance with specifications, standards and project requirements.

Key Responsibilities

This position offers variety and exposure throughout the project; you’ll spend your time across a mix of:

  • Conducting on-site quality inspections on active construction works
  • Undertaking off-site surveillance and inspections at fabrication yards and manufacturing facilities
  • Reviewing and managing quality documentation, ITPs, Work Lots and NCRs
  • Supporting audits, hold point releases and quality reporting
  • Collaborating with engineering, construction and commercial teams to drive compliance and quality outcomes

One week might see you inspecting steel fabrication works in a manufacturing facility, carrying out site surveillance activities on the project, and then reviewing quality documentation and compliance records from the office. This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys being close to the work and influencing quality outcomes across multiple locations.

What You’ll Bring

  • Degree-qualified in Engineering, Quality Management, Project Management or a related discipline
  • Experience in quality roles on major civil, road or infrastructure projects
  • Strong knowledge of Quality Management Systems, inspections, audits and compliance processes
  • Ability to review and manage ITPs, Work Lots, NCRs and quality documentation
  • Experience conducting site inspections and supplier surveillance activities
  • Familiarity with VIDA, DTP or similar Victorian infrastructure requirements (highly regarded)
  • Experience with TeamBinder or similar document management systems is advantageous, though training will be provided
  • A proactive, collaborative approach and a commitment to delivering quality outcomes

What We Offer

  • Be part of a nationally respected contractor with a strong local presence
  • Benefit from job security, competitive salary, and long-term project pipeline
  • Clear career progression and ongoing professional development
  • Collaborate with top-tier delivery partners in a high-impact alliance
  • Be recognised at our annual employee awards event and through our Thrive reward and recognition platform
  • Access wellness programs, strong work-life balance initiatives, paid parental leave, retail discounts, industry training and memberships & more
