As part of our growing national project portfolio, BMD is delivering the landmark Darwin Ship Lift Facility, one of Northern Australia's most significant marine infrastructure projects. To support successful project delivery, we are seeking an experienced Quality Inspector to join the team and ensure works are delivered to the highest quality standards across this iconic project.
About the role
BMD Constructions is seeking an experienced and driven Quality Inspector to join the Darwin Ship Lift Facility project team. Based in Darwin, you will play a key role in ensuring construction activities meet project specifications, client requirements and applicable standards.
Reporting to the Quality Manager, you will work closely with project teams, subcontractors and stakeholders to oversee quality assurance and quality control activities across a broad range of civil, structural and marine construction works. Your attention to detail and proactive approach will help drive quality performance and successful project outcomes.
Key responsibilities
- Maintain strong HSEQ awareness and ensure compliance across all project activities
- Conduct inspections and surveillance activities to verify compliance with project specifications, standards and quality requirements
- Coordinate and witness inspections, testing activities and hold points
- Review and maintain Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), lot packages and quality records
- Monitor subcontractor quality performance and ensure compliance with project requirements
- Assist with the management and close-out of non-conformances and corrective actions
- Maintain accurate quality documentation and project records
- Support internal and external quality audits across the project
- Identify quality risks and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
- Liaise with site teams, subcontractors, consultants and clients on quality-related matters
- Ensure testing and inspection activities align with project schedules and construction programs
- Promote a culture of quality excellence across the project team
About you
- Previous experience as a Quality Inspector, Quality Coordinator or similar quality-focused construction role
- Demonstrated experience delivering quality outcomes on major infrastructure, civil, marine, industrial or building projects
- Strong understanding of quality assurance and quality control principles
- Experience managing quality documentation, inspection records and testing requirements
- Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications and technical standards
- Experience coordinating inspections, testing activities and quality compliance processes
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality outcomes
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- High level of organisation, planning and document control capability
- Commitment to safety, quality and environmental outcomes
- Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary project teams
