Who we’re looking for

We are looking for an experienced professional to join our Queensland team, initially based in Brisbane before supporting a project on the Sunshine Coast. In this role, you will use your excellent communication skills to work collaboratively with people at all levels across the BMD Group nationally, and with our external suppliers. You will support the operational needs of the business and, using your attention to detail, will:

  • Ensure all goods are delivered to site within the expected time constraints.
  • Expedite any pre-ordered and back-ordered materials.
  • Manage the coordination of plant transfers between sites.
  • Source and negotiate the most cost-effective rates with new suppliers.
  • Ensure our suppliers and their subcontractors meet or exceed our expectations regarding safety, environment, quality, price and delivery requirements.
  • Proactively liaise between site staff and suppliers to resolve any purchasing supply issues.

You may also have the following desirable skills:

  • Previous experience as a Procurement Officer or Lead.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing multiple procurement packages and procurement teams on major construction projects.
  • Relevant tertiary or vocational qualifications.
  • CIPS or equivalent accreditation preferable but not essential.
  • Significant experience in developing tender scope and interpretation of work packages.
  • Effective interpersonal and written and oral communication skills.
  • Proven experience with managing and leading a team.
  • Demonstrated high level decision making, negotiation and influencing skills.
  • High standard for attention to detail.
